Idea + Team

The name of our label is composed of the designer's name and our first product line:
a-nke ro-mmel shi-rts.

The people from aroshi live and work in the Berlin district of Wedding. The design concepts of our expressive shirts, tops and hoodies originate from our passion for architecture and the spirit of Berlin .

Idea:

Everything depends on the perspective: The trained architect and interior designer Anke Rommel discovers “memorable places” in the urban area. Her heart skips the exact moment when the feeling tells her ‘it’s beautiful here’. Her eyes take in the outlines, arches, structures and harmonies. She sketches urban atmospheres and distils them down to the essential.

An intelligent mixture of emotions and logic result in harmonic compositions. The designer composes bright and colorful portrayals of the city through a distinct feeling for brushstrokes and color combinations. The city is captured in two-dimensional symbols or via three-dimensional depth effects - Berlin has never been depicted like this before!

aroshi turns an ordinary garment into an attractive eye-catcher and lifetime companion. aroshi creates ‘Series’ instead of releasing transitory ‘collections’ or ‘trends’ that come out of fashion. It’s a real joy to collect the items from the Series.

Berlin up close: Collectors and wearers of the shirts with different motifs can define their look with other clothing items according to their style requirements, either sporty, elegant, casual, sophisticated or sexy. Those who wear the shirt bring it to life, just as the residents of a city make it lively.

Ecological and ethical orientation:

All products meet the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 - Class 1. This standard guarantees that textiles and dyes do not harm health or the environment, and that a water treatment obligation is in place to protect local waters.

The Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) promotes fair working conditions in the textile industry worldwide. Its Code of Practices includes a provision that no child or forced labor, and that employees are not discriminated against.

The printing plant obtains its dyes from the ISO 9000 certified company Sericol Ltd. In comparison to conventional inks, these "plastisol inks" are environmentally friendly and do not harm health. In 1993 Sericol was awarded the environmental prize of the British Queen.

Our hoodies are made from 100% bio cotton and carry the EarthPositive ® label. They meet the Global Organic Textile Standard and are certified by the Control Union. The hoodies are entirely produced through renewable energies such as wind and solar power. EarthPositive ® works on the principle of “No transport by air” and therefore contributes to the reduction of CO2 emission caused by air freight. The carbon label shows the exact CO2 emission value that is emitted during the production process.

Some shirts are made from 70% Bamboo viscose fiber and 30% combed bio cotton whereas others are made from 100% Lyocell TENCEL ®. The quality of bamboo viscose fiber is comparable to cashmere and silk but is somewhat more resistant than silk. It has a natural shimmer, is antibacterial and breathable. Lyocell TENCEL ® is a nanofiber taken from the eucalyptus plant. It optimally absorbs moisture from the skin. The way both fabrics are knitted is called ‘delicate jersey’. The fabric is diaphanous, light, quick drying, remains cool in the heat, and it can be folded down to a very small size.

The motifs and their surroundings:

The aroshi motifs are recognizable, but more importantly, they should firstly appeal to the visual senses. Since every area has a story to tell, we portray the locality in words and pictures. Berlin is of course very lively and full of people too, but as not everyone likes the idea of being found in the internet, we avoid visual representations of people.
